This listing is for what we believe to be a large Victorian Continental engraved baluster wine "marriage" celebration goblet dating from the late 19th century, probably Bohemian - German - Moser.
It is sometimes referred to as a "Passing Cup". Sometimes they are called a pokal or chalice. It would have been used during a toast. It would be passed around to everyone to drink from after the toast was made. Communal drinking and passing were flourishing in the cultures of the 16th century.
This large goblet measures 11" tall and 4" wide at the mouth. It weighs approx. 1 lb 10 oz.
The hand engraving is exceptional. It has a monogram that looks like a fish design was used to create the S.
Hand Blown, Wheel Cut, Hand Engraved and Hand Polished.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear on the base. Any white in the photos is from my camera flash. Remember that you are looking at an antique item that was used. Ask all needed questions before purchase.
