This elegant beauty hearkens back to the classic style of the Victorian era, but is sturdily constructed with more modern methods from the 1970s-- the best of both worlds! It came from an estate sale I went to recently in which a lot of Victorian pieces were featured. This is definitely a ring for someone who loves an antique look. And wow is it ever sparkly!
The ring is constructed in a classic "stoplight" style with three large diamond set in a vertical row and a halo of smaller stones around the edges. The center diamond is the largest measuring about 5mm in diameter; the other two measure about 3mm each. The diamonds in the halo are all about 2mm in diameter. The interior of the band is marked 1.48 and based on my measurements, this seems an accurate total gem weight. All of the diamonds are round brilliant cuts, but they are set in crown style prongs which is a very Victorian touch. The stones are H in color, VS2 to SI1 in clarity-- very nice stones. The piece has a lot of light and fire. The face of the ring measures 22x12mm. Its very impactful on the hand.
The band is a polished yellow gold split shank which tapers from 5.5mm at the shoulders to 2mm at the back of the band. Its marked and tests for 14K.
Condition is excellent. This ring looks almost brand new under magnification. It is a size 8.75 and can be sized up to a 10 or down to a 7.5 for $36. Contact me for a quote outside this range (sizing takes about two weeks.) This superb piece weighs an impressive 7 grams. What a wonderful engagement ring this would make for the woman who wants something a little different!
