Imagine you are a character in "Wings of the Dove" (and if you haven't read the book or seen the movie, I recommend it.) Its the early 1900s. You are wandering through Venice. Your days are filled with art, romance, and longing. But on your finger? This elegant and one of a kind sapphire and diamond ring. Perhaps the longing is quelled just a little.
I love a good stoplight ring, but have not been lucky enough to see one like this before. Its incredible. The elaborate lacework filigree is very carefully done with a very organic look typical of rings of the Art Nouveau era. The center stone is a bright blue earth mined sapphire in an oval cut with a small table typical of an antique cut stone. Its dark blue with a royal undertone-- it definitely reads as blue on the hand especially next to the warm yellow of the gold. The stone measures apprx 3x5mm and is estimated to weigh right around .30 carats. The stone is set in a bezel with rippled edges that make it appear fancy cut on the hand, but it is an oval.
There are 6 natural old single cut diamonds with an estimated combined weight of around .14 carats. These are white white white and G in color, VS clarity. Very nice diamonds and they add so much to the design-- they almost look like drops of water. The face of the ring has a slightly domed shape with layers of filigree that are almost tiered over one another. The shoulders feature a 3 leaf clover design that gives way to an engraved motif. Just wonderfully crafted.
This ring measures 22x10mm. It is currently a 6.75 and can easily be resized-- convo me for a quote if you want my trusted jeweler to take a look and give a quote. Condition is excellent. There are no breaks in the filigree. Stones are secure and show very little wear under magnification. The ring is marked and tests for 14K. It weighs 2.9 grams.
