Mid Century Modern Maurice Heaton Art Glass Studio design kidney shape bowl. This gorgeous piece of glass is in Excellent estate condition with no chips, cracks or flakes. It is signed as shown in the photos and has a pale blue color that will lean towards gray or taupe depending on what is next to it. See last photo for closeup of colors.
This Heaton piece measures 10 1/2" long by 8" wide with a 2" height. The inside of the bowl is highly polished and the exterior stripes of fused glass are textured in a grainy pebble feel. The M.H. are inscribed at the base.
Maurice Heaton was born in Neuchatel, Switzerland in 1900. He lived in NY, NY until his death in 1989. He attended the Stevens Institute of Technology, in Hoboken New Jersey. In addition to his modernist glass works he is also known for enameled tableware. His works can be found at the MET in NYC.
