A 19th Century wood sap bucket in it's original red paint. This bucket is a wonderful antique primitive, will look great in just about any room, and give you some extra storage.
The bucket measures 9" tall, 9 1/2 across the base and 12" from rim to rim across top. The metal bands can actually be removed as the wood expands and shrinks. You can see the wear lines from the band moving over time. There is appropriate paint wear for it's age. This is a solid bucket with no rot. View all photos to see how beautiful this primitive piece it.
This type of sap bucket was nail hung. Some of them used straps for hanging and some were hung like this one, by attaching a nail or peg to a tree and placing the bucket through the nail (there is a hanging hole on one side).
So many ideas for this bucket! It can be used in the kitchen to hold a variety fruits and veggies or cooking utensil, in the bathroom to roll up hand towels, by the fire place to hold smaller logs and kindling. Use your creativity with this gorgeous piece!
