Victorian Prosperity & Protection Bloodstone Intaglio Locket Ring
A shield shaped bloodstone (heliotrope), hand engraved with wheat sheaves to symbolize prosperity is mounted on an angle in this incredible Victorian intaglio locket ring crafted in 9k yellow gold. This ring makes a strong and bold statement - with the shield design mounted on an angle - it is simply a show stopper. And bloodstone or heliotrope - a popular stone during the Victorian era since the red speckles in the green stone symbolized the blood of the individual that gifted the ring and their undying love.
And any ring that can hold a secret - has me at...hello. The shield mount lifts up to reveal a secret compartment making this ring the perfect love token - filled with symbolism, whimsy and timeless classic lines. This ringing is not only a conversation piece - but a symbol of love, prosperity and protection.
US ring size 7 1/2. Crafted in 9k yellow gold (not hallmarked but tested). Inside the locket appears to be a silver piece of metal laid on top of the gold - I tried to capture the silver in the last photo. Ring weighs 5.6 grams. And on the interior shank, beneath the month there is a hand inscription - I believe the letters read JAB to DS.
