Glowing opals are grounded by rich purple amethysts in this classice Arts and Crafts pendant. The stones are surrounded by curves of flat wire work punctuated by small beads of silver. The pendant is suspended from its original chain which alternates open oval links with small round links.
The necklace is made of unmarked (except for the spring ring which is marked 925), but acid tested, sterling silver.
SIZE: pendant is 1-1/8" (from bottom of pearl to top of amethyst) long x 13/16" wide. The chain is 16" long.
MARKS: none except for the spring ring.
AGE: early 20th century
CONDITION: Minor scratching on the stones, but the opals have no crazing. I have left a dark patina on the silver but it could be polished if desired. The pearl suspended from the bottom is probably a replacement for an opal or amethyst.
