Kieselstein-Cord Sterling BuckleKieselstein-Cord Sterling BuckleKieselstein-Cord Sterling Buckle

This sterling silver belt buckle is by the designer Barry Kieselstein-Cord. It dates from 1984 and has the bold scale of jewelry from that era, but tempered with flowing elegant lines.

Barry Kieselstein-Cord founded his eponymous brand in New York in 1972. He is particularly known for his sterling silver belt buckles, and is one of the rare contemporary designers who have turned this utilitarian object into a luxury item. He is the recipient of the CFDA Award and the Coty Award.

SIZE: 2-5/8" long x 1-3/4" high. The buckle is meant for a 5/8" wide belt.

MARKS: "B. Kieselstein Cord" "1984" "USA" "Sterling" "154" which is probably the model number, and a moon and star symbol

AGE: 1984

CONDITION: there are a few hairline cracks in the silver, which appear to be part of the original casting.
