A red rose sits inside a lozenge-shaped plaque at the center of this marvelous Art Deco sterling and paste brooch. Surrounding this central plaque is a field of rectangles whose beveled edges are set with clear paste stones. The paste stones are bead-set, just like fine jewelry. The brooch also features fine, hand-sawn piercing that highlights the geometric patterns and the outlines of the rose.
SIZE: 2-3/16" long x 1-1/8" high
MARKS: "Sterling" and a swan hallmark which indicates that the piece was imported into France.
AGE: 1920's or 30's
CONDITION: very good vintage condition. There is a little darkening of a couple of the paste stones.
