Bjorn Weckstrom, of the Finnish company Lapponia, is one of the most important jewelry designers of the 20th century and this 14 karat gold ring has all of the sculptural qualities for which he is known. A sculptor who looks upon jewelry as “miniature sculpture with the human body in the background”, Weckstrom draws "his inspiration from the shape and matte surface of gold nuggets from Finnish Lapland” as stated on the Lapponia website. This ring, with its folded and jagged form, fits into this vocabulary and the small piece of rock embedded in this ring looks like it was exposed by erosion of the gold.
If you like sculptural jewelry by artists, and are looking for something that is wearable on a daily basis, this ring has the perfect balance of artistry and wearability.
