Antique Rosewood box with Silver Inlay Vanity/Travel Box circa 1840-1870. This lovely box has burgundy silk inside with gold tassels inside lid area where a mirror was kept underneath. The box is fitted with eight glass containers with silver lids and two carved bone brushes. One brush has "London" marked on it. There is a storage area under the top layer of fittings. The Box is in good condition and measures 12.25 inches long, 8 inches wide and 6 inches high. The containers are also in good condition showing only minor wear and tear. Men and women of the Victorian era carried there vanity or toilet items in beautiful fitted boxes. It was a show of status as well as a necessity. This box has beautiful silver inlay and surely belonged to a wealthy person.
