A fabulous pair of Victorian drop earrings, set with emeralds and diamonds, in 15Kt gold & silver, England, circa the 1830s-1890s.
The stunning settings have been expertly crafted out of silver and 15 karat yellow gold and have been prong set with oval-shaped cabochon-cut emeralds totaling, approximately, 14.04 carats. Complementing them are 120 round faceted diamonds totaling, approximately, 2.40 carats. The gems are well matched and are a range of white, yellow and brown hues.
The dangle earrings are in excellent antique condition showing expected signs of wear. A few of the diamonds have minute chips and are stable in their settings. This does little to detract from the overall fineness of the earrings. Mentioned for accuracy the yellow gold kidney ear wires are assumed to be a later addition to the earrings. They weigh, approximately, 15.47 grams together and each earring measures 1.61 inches (4.1 cm) tall by 0.83 inches (2.1 cm) wide. The earrings are not marked but tested positive for silver and 15K gold. The ear wires tested positive for 14K gold.
