A regal Art Deco solitaire sapphire men's ring, in 14Kt gold, Samarkand, Uzbekistan, USSR, circa 1927-1946.
The superb setting has been expertly crafted out of 14 karat rose gold with an enchanting leaf pattern to the upper shank. It has been prong set with a solitaire oval-cut sapphire totaling, approximately, 0.40 carats. The gem is a rich cornflower blue, has strong saturation, medium tone, very good clarity, and brilliance.
The gent's ring is in excellent vintage condition showing expected signs of wear. It weighs, approximately, 9.80 grams and is US ring size 9 3/4 (UK ring size T). The face of the ring measures 0.28 inches (0.7 cm) tall by 0.93 inches (2.35 cm) wide across the upper shank. It bears the Soviet hallmark and 585 for 14K gold (confirmed with acid testing).
