A glamorous Art Deco brooch pendant, set with diamonds and sapphires, in platinum and 18Kt gold, France, circa 1920s-1940s.
This incredible piece has been expertly crafted out of platinum and set with 139 round old European cut, old mine cut and rose cut diamonds totaling, approximately, 3.68 carats. The central old European cut diamond measures, approximately, 0.87 carats and has very good color (E-G) and clarity (SI). The other well-matched diamonds have very good color (E-G) and clarity (VVS-VS). Complementing them are 36 rectangular calibre-cut sapphires totaling, approximately, 0.48 carats. The gems are a rich blue hue, have strong saturation, medium-light tone, very good clarity, and brilliance. The brooch has been finished with a sturdy 18 karat gold double prong clasp, safety hooks, and a large pendant bail.
The brooch is in excellent vintage condition, showing only expected signs of wear. It weighs approximately 33.41 grams and measures 2.36 inches (6 cm) wide by 1.65 inches (4.2 cm) tall. It bears an unknown designers stamp, the French eagle head hallmark for 18K gold (confirmed with testing) and tested positive for platinum.
