Up for sale is an absolutely gorgeous hand mirror from the Victorian era. It has a porcelain plaque handpainted with a beautiful lady portrait. I don't see a signature on the portrait. The metal appears to be brass and the frame is very ornate with little cherubs on each side at the top and at the bottom of the handle it appears to be a male sea nymph or mermaid. The mirror has a ring for hanging but it seems it would be pretty big for a chatelaine, so maybe just to hang it up on a hook. The mirror itself is in rough shape, see the photo. The silvering is all crackled and there are a couple chips in the glass beveled edge. This would look great on any vanity though because you would display it portait side up. It is about 8 1/2" long overall.
