Up for sale is a really unique dinosaur wooden toy which research shows was made by Twist Um Toys in Oakland, California in the 1920s. They apparently made a number of wooden toys much like Schoenhut and in fact were manufactured to compete with Schoenhut and cash in on their success. Furnished free with all orders to dealers back in the day were 8" x 10" photos of moving picture stars posing with Twistums. Some famous actors who posed with Twistum animals included Mary Astor, Margaret Livingston, Myrna Loy, "Our Gang," and "Rin-Tin-Tin!"
He has wire connectors and swivel joints which allow you to pose him many different ways. The wiring is tight and he holds a post. This dinosaur is painted yellow and has one blue bead on his tail and another on his neck. He has paint losses and crazing as you can see from the photos. One of his backbone sections has the most damage and it looks like someone at one time tried to patch him up a bit and there is a little stray paint left from that attempt. He is 17" long if you stretch him out. Considering he is almost 100 years old and was played with by children, he has held up pretty good.
