Up for sale is a lovely mother of pearl pomander. The pomander would have been filled with herbs or other scented items and use to mask odors in the early days such as at a funeral when the body was often not preserved. Some used the pomander to hold a special mix that was thought to ward off harm. This one has a floral pressed tin top with a small piece of shell on the lid. The shell on the lid has a couple minor flakes. The pomander is about 3 1/2' long not counting the chain.
