Up for sale is a wonderful clown doll pull toy. I was told this was made in France, but I don't see any marks, so not sure. The clown I guess is acting as a sheepherder to three adorable sheep with ribbons on their heads. The front and middle one are each missing a horn and the sheep are also missing alot of their "fur".. You can see at the tops of the legs where they are attached to the body, and the front one has some of that loosening so that it looks almost like it had broken off and was reattached, but I think that is just how they were made and it is loosening some in those areas.
The clown has a lovely bisque face painted like a clown with stationary glass eyes, his body feels softer maybe cardboard, his feet appear to be composition and his hands are wood. He holds a baton in one hand and his head turns and the hand with the baton moves.
He stands on a painted platform with little metal wheels, one appears to have some re-soldering but is an original wheel. There is a bellows on the bottom that appears in good shape but does not make any sound. I think it would have made a sheep bleating sound.
The doll itself is about 9" tall, from the bottom of the wheel to the top of the clown is about 12" and the wooden platform is also about 12" long.
