A pair of vintage bronze malachite urns. Both urns feature three identical graces in bronze. They are in a ring, facing out with a strong gaze. Their contrapposto stance is accentuated by their draping robes. Each grace is joined to the next by sharing a gilt laurel wreath. Supported by their heads is a grand gilt urn in basket style. The underside is decorated by concentric rings of stylized leaves and the top features interwoven grapevine.
The graces stand on a circular pedestal of rich green malachite veneer. Its texture and tonal variation is absolutely fantastic. Both top and bottom are capped in sparkling gilt bronze. Completely encircling the malachite base is a gilt bronze plaque of a highly detailed swag. It curves up and down, cresting around plaques alternating from floral and geometric design to a human mask ringed by laurel leaves.
Great condition, some darker areas on gilt base, all natural to its age and use.
These urns would look magnificent flanking an entryway or placed on a long, grand table. Made in the style of famous French bronziere Pierre Philippe Thomire.
