Abels, Wasserberg & Co. (AWOC) was a premier interior and lighting firm, renowned for their hand-painted decorations in their Charleton line.
The blanks of this bowl and platter were manufactured by the Heisey Glass Co. in their Revere line and decorated by AWOC.
On page 153 of the book referenced below, there is a picture of the pattern known as Charleton Ebony Whirl, c. 1952. The availability of the pattern is designated as "scarce."
The serving plate platter measures 11" in diameter and the bowl is 4 1/8" in diameter. There is some wear to the red paint as seen in the photos.
The bowl has the Heisey "H in Diamond" logo. The plate has the Charleton label on the underside. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs.
