A rare Holmes & Edwards luncheon service for 12 in the classic circa 1923 Regency Revival pattern, "Century". It is in gently used condition with no plating loss. Holmes & Edwards manufactured and perfected the inlaid system where a layer of sterling silver was applied to areas that were prone to surface wear. Since this is a luncheon set, some of the pieces are near pristine. The set consists of a total of 85 pieces. 13-9" hollow handled, stainless steel, French blade knives, 12-5.75" individual spreaders, 13-7.25" luncheon forks, 13-6.25" salad/dessert forks, 15-6" teaspoons, 13-7.25 oval soup spoons, 1-10.25" cake/pie server, 1-8" meat fork, 1-8" master butter, 1-6.75" mayonnaise server, 1-6" sugar spoon, 1-7" sauce ladle (HAS A MONOGRAM). The vintage tarnish proof chest is 17" by12" by 3.5". The difference between a luncheon and dinner service is that the luncheon service is of a smaller scale. It's perfectly O.K. to use for formal or informal Hollywood Regency dinners!
