WMF Wurttembergische Metallwaren Fabrik (Wurttemburg Medal Factory) was the premier manufacturer of Art Nouveau silver hollowware. More so than its French competitors of the period. This vase was produced in the late Jugendstil period so it is a transitional piece with less decoration, moving toward the Art Deco style. The Ostrich and two inscriptions "WMF" AND "G" (Geislingen An Der Steige) date its production between 1900- 1918. It measures 10.75" h. and 4"w. handle to handle. It is in pristine condition, recently silver-plated, with its original crystal insert, with one minor dimple (see images).
