A rare Brayton Laguna Pottery Company hand-painted Foo Dog circa 1950's. I purchased this piece from a friend, Laguna Beach artist-designer, Don French who worked for Brayton's Laguna Beach till they went out of business in 1969. Don was ill and was liquidating most of his collections in 1973. I also bought four antique Chinese rosewood temple carvings, one of which was used to make the molds for Foo dogs sold by Brayton Laguna Pottery (see image of rosewood Foo dog). I have never seen other examples of this piece so it is rare or a prototype. It measures 10.5" high by10" deep by 7" wide.
