Chic and Dramatic are the best adjectives for this lovely little Hollycraft brooch. I just love the dramatic thermoset black flowers with the fun bright colors that accent each black flower. The larger flower has a sweet halo of tiny cherry red cabochons while the three smaller black flowers below have smaller halos of turquoise, sunny yellow and purple lavender cabochon beads. There are additional accents of cabochons in these 3 colors along with three amber colored marquise shaped rhinestones that decorate the leafy tendrils. Most of the stones are bezel or chanel set. This is a gold tone brooch. The gold is a sort of antiqued color and is matte finish on the front, shinier on the back.
The flowers look like parrot tulips or bell flowers to me. The material used to form them is a thermoset plastic. The combination of matte and shiny materials is stunning. The back of the pin has a working fold over clasp pin mechanism. The Hollycraft cartouche is found on the bottom of the back of the pin including 'COPR 1953'. There is some slight wear or corrosion of the metal on the back. Other than that, the condition seems to be very good vintage used. It measures 2 inches across by 2 inches high. Thank you for looking!
