Gorgeous antique Victoria era earrings in 10kt yellow gold, these old beauties come in their original box. Purchased from antiques dealer, she purchased from original owner's family. They said a brooch may have also come with the earrings originally but was no longer available.
Each earring measures about 3 inches long and measures 1/2 inch at the widest area. These feminine flowing earrings look amazing on and really make a statement. Full of flower and leaf motifs, they are dotted with tiny white cultured pearls. In the center or body of the earring is a 3 loop ribbon design with one large central flower that stands out from the center. A smaller flower with leaves comes out of the top and the post has a large flower attached to the shepherds hook. From the bottom, 3 small flowers with small pearls dangle from the bottom. There are 6 cultured pearls in each earring.
There are some condition issues to be aware of. Most of the pearls look to be original except one of the larger ones at the top may have been replaced at one time because it looks slightly larger than the other. Most of the cultured pearls look fine but have wear and discoloration from age. The gold metal looks good with some aging of the textured leaves and flowers. The closure mechanism is a hinged wire clasp which was in use starting in the 1880's so I believe these earrings are from that time. They are in very good working order. The original box has the original red and tan satin inside with some staining and tears. The outside has seen better days but I think it is so great it is still around. There are some very faint letters on the inside of the box on the silk, but it is too faint to make out.
Total weight is 8 grams 10kt gold. Circa mid-1880. Thank you!
