These earrings are the most elegant I have seen lately. They are circa 1940's and feature 2 beautiful lab created alexandrites in gorgeous shades of violet and purple. Each stone measures approximately 15mm long by 8mm wide. They are lab created stones which were new and very popular during the 1930-1940's. Sometimes the lab created stones were more expensive than real gemstones at the time. Each stone is held in place by a wonderful caged prong setting. Two large prongs come from the bottom and the top has a nice inverted V prong holding the stones in beautifully.
The gold setting features a textured gold swirl that comes from the top of the stone and attaches to the shepherd hook type closure. There is an extremely faded 14kt mark on the inside of the wire hook which was impossible to capture in photos. They have been tested for 14kt.
Overall condition is good used vintage with no chips or cracks in the stone and minimal metal wear. Each earring measures 1-3/4" long. Together they weigh 7.4 grams. Thank you!
