Offered for sale is an exquisite little folk art charm which I believe was carved from either a peach pit or a large nut. Made into a basket, it was lovingly carved and finished off in great detail with 14kt yellow gold accents. The handled little basket has a crisscross or diamond pattern on the lower half and a perfectly rounded handle that is carved in an adorable rope design. It is nicely hollowed out so it could actually hold something tiny. There is a nice wide gold bottom so that it sits perfectly straight, another wide band of gold that wraps around the basket and another wide band that wraps the top of the handle. The jump ring is very generous. You could use it on a pendant or charm.
Purchased at an antiques estate sale, I believe this is from the late 1800's Victorian era. It is in good pre-owned condition. There is a little gaped opening on one side of the basket near the bottom band which you have to really look for to see. It weighs 2.2 grams. It has tested positive for gold.
