Here is a vintage, circa 1980, diamond cluster ring done in a by-pass design. Executed in 14kt yellow gold, all the diamonds are set in white gold. There are two identical floral designs that bypass each other. On one side the 5 petal flower is curving up and on the other side it curves downward. They are separated by a swirl of yellow gold. Each flower has a short stem in diamonds.
There are 8 diamonds on each flower or 16 altogether. Each weighs approximately 3 points or about 1/2 carat total diamond weight. The diamonds are nice and clean with a wonderful sparkle. They would be graded H color, SI1 clarity. Each flower measures about 12mm long by 6mm wide.
The mark for 14k is found on the inside of the shank. There is also a makers mark "JF" inside the shank. This might be the mark of a Canadian jeweler J. Froland, who is no longer in business and was purchased by Birks. I do not see a Birks mark so I believe this would be from before they were purchased. This is only speculation and it was very difficult coming up with more information on this designer.
It is a re-sizable 7. It weighs 5.1 grams. Overall condition is very good pre-owned.
