This signed Lawrence Vrba necklace features a dramatic long design in faux rice pearls and larger faux pearls and a large antiqued brass medallion in an art nouveau style with a faux amber dangle. The medallion features a pretty flat antiqued brass piece measuring 2-3/4 inches long by 2 inches wide and features a floral design. On the back, is the artists cartouche, "Lawrence Vrba". Attached at the top is a barrel shaped antiqued brass bead measuring 3/4 inch long. In the center of the medallion is an oval faux seed pearl design surrounding an oval faux amber bead. This area measures about 1-1/4 inch long by 1 inch wide. A long faux amber tear shaped drop hangs from the bottom and measures 1-1/4 inches long.
There are 4 large faux pearls in a creamy white color, all measuring approximately 15mm around and 2 smaller round ones measuring approximately 10mm. The faux amber round beads measure the same. Each of the faux rice pearls measures between 7mm and 8mm long and there are 16 strands total, each measuring approximately 8-3/8 inches long including the gold tone end caps. Sixteen additional small faux round pearls are above this area and connect to the antiqued brass toggle. Each of these pearls measures approximately 7mm.
Overall length is 30 inches plus another 4-5 inches including the medallion area. Overall condition is very good.
This is a great necklace for its dramatic look and the fact that the colors are all neutral and will go with any color you put it against, brights and neutrals.
Lawrence Vrba is known for his larger dramatic pieces and still designs to this day for Broadway plays, Metropolitan Opera, etc. He started out in the 1970s working for Haskell and Castlecliff design houses. His pieces are often one of a kind and not mass produced.
