This highly collectible composition Sonja Henie doll was made for two-three years in the early 1940s. Many Sonja Henie dolls that you find are 14”, but for a few years the Sonja Henie head was put on a composition Wendy Ann body with a swivel waist, making this model of doll 13” tall. The Sonja Henie head came out in the late 1930s, but I have a feeling at the start of WWII, materials were hard to find and the Alexander Co. maybe used the available Wendy Ann body with the head. She has her original clothes and skates. The clothes (dress and undies) could use a good cleaning, but otherwise are in good shape. The blades on each skate have cracked, but are still attached and could be repaired. Her body is in very good condition with no signs of crazing or cracks. Her sleep eyes look good, but she has lost some eye lashes. Her wig is thick and full, but her hair does need to be re-styled. Her color is wonderful – nice blush to her cheeks and nice red lips with a few teeth showing in her open mouth. There is a little loss of composition to the middle finger on her right hand.
