Shortly after World War II, this Steiff pony entered some lucky child's life, probably for Christmas or a special birthday. This sweet-faced pony, measuring 24" tall, 27" long, and 13" wide (including the frame), was substantial enough that a child could actually ride on it. He has the Steiff button in one ear and still has his stirrups for little feet to rest; there is a handle at the back of his neck to hold on to. The pony sits on a sturdy metal frame and with bright red-orange wheels with rubber tread. The word Steiff and the number 125 are embossed on the white tread. He probably had a bridle and saddle at one time, but other than that he is in very good condition. There are no tears, stains, or rips in his body; however, the underside of his tail has come partially unstitched from his body and you can see the excelsior stuffing inside. It isn't noticeable unless you raise his tail. For years I have had a fascination for toy ponies, and he's been a part of my personal collection for almost 20 years; he didn't smell smokey when I got him, and he's been in a smoke-free environment since he came to live with me.
