This charming weather vane is unique in that it is made out of wood instead of copper or other metal. The paddle that catches the wind is made of painted tin, and the fence around the little house is made of metal, but the rest is wood. The roof color is a wonderful green and the chimney a nice red. The paint is crazed and cracked which just adds to the charm of folk art. The directional arrow is missing from the piece, but on the underneath side you can see where it was attached to a standard. It shows wear indicative of its age.
The house and yard (without the directional piece) measure 9"wide, 6 ½" deep, and 7" to the peak of the roof. The chimney adds another 1 1/8" to the height. The the house with the directional arrow is about 17" long.
The photos don't do this treasure justice; it is much cuter than in the photos. On one side of the house there are two windows and on the other there is one. This would be sure a darling addition to any collection.
