Gladding, McBean & Co. started making fine china under the name of Franciscan in 1941 until the early the 1950s. One of their popular patterns was Encanto which was made in several pleasing soft colors. This 10 3/8" dinner plate is in the sandalwood color and does not appear to be been used much, very few knife marks. There are no chips, cracks or crazing and the platinum is in very good condition.
