This cute handmade painted Santa riding on a platform with wheels would be great on a mantel or amongst a tabletop setting for the holidays. From the studio of Robin Lee, this piece, signed in 1993, was probably done by a student of hers since she taught tole painting. There is a small, drilled hole on Santa’s hand that might have held an additional ornamentation or perhaps a cord to use as a pull toy, but you could dream up your own addition to it. Measuring 18” long, 5” wide, wheel to wheel, and 10 ½” tall, it is painted in blues, greens, pink, red and white. The back is painted in red and green. The four wooden wheels easily turn. Robin Lee had her own shop which was full of wonderful primitive pieces and her own hand-painted decorative items as well as pieces done by her students.
