What a great piece of Nashville history! This 6 13/16” long natural bristle clothes brush is from the George B. Farrar Co in Nashville, Tennessee. The advertising on the brush goes on to say that they deal in “clothing, hats and furnishings” and were located at 226 Fourth Ave. North, opposite the arcade. After research for a bit of history on the store, I did find references to it in an October 1919 edition of a publication called The Clothier and Furnishings, and in the October 1922 edition of Boot and Shoe Record. I couldn’t find any reference after 1922, but maybe someone familiar with Nashville would know what happened to the store after 1922. The natural bristles are in a wooden handle with a shiny finish upon which the advertising has been placed. It is in used condition, which just adds to the character of the piece.
