A wonderfully talented friend has lost her husband and experienced a health setback, so she has given up her home and moved away to live with her daughter. I have accumulated many of her works of art and am offering these pieces for others to enjoy. We’ve handled a lot of needlepoint pieces over the years, but until I studied Diane’s petit point work, I hadn’t appreciated how tiny each stitch is and the patience it took to finish a piece!
The 12 ¼” square, framed piece is done on a soft tan cloth that feels like silk with stitching in brown-green, blue, burnt orange, and white. The wooden frame has a rich mahogany-orange color to it, which perfectly complements the stitching. Amongst the floral pattern is stitched the following: Welcome to my garden. Dearest friends and birds and bees, the loveliness you see here was done mostly on my knees. In the lower left corner, it is signed in tiny, tiny stitches Vera Diane ’84.
There are a few dings in the frame, but not detractive. The piece comes from a smoke-free home and has no pulls, tears, or holes.
This would be a great addition to your needlework collection or country/outdoor decor. Please contact us if you have any questions.
