Rockford, IL, brothers Al and Earl Herdklotz established a tool and gage manufacturing company in 1943 to help with the war effort, but after the war, they needed to find a way to sustain their business on a daily basis. In 1946, after seeing the success of large diecast metal toys, they decided to manufacture midget size die cast toys, thus starting the Midgetoy brand. They started with cars and trucks, and, cleverly, partnered with a moving company and produced midget-sized brand name moving vans. They later produced planes and trains. This brightly colored set of five train cars is in very good, well played with condition. There is some loss of paint, but they all have their rubber wheels, and there are no cracks in the pot metal. Each car is 5” from hook to hook.
This would be a lovely addition to your vintage train or toy collection. Please contact us if you have any questions.
