If only this charming piece could talk; I’m sure it’s seen lots of history. From the late 1800s, this unusual two-story, 16” long Noah’s Ark is set on a wooden platform and is ready to pull on its iron, spoked wheels; there is a deck around the second story for Noah and Naamah to walk – it was probably pretty noisy inside the ark! The ark comes with seven wooden animals. It has an interesting canvas-hinged red lithographed paper roof with a latch on one side to hold the animals inside. The windows, doors, and other decorations are painted on. The piece is 7 ½” tall and 5 3/8” wide. Is has some condition issues – the roof had a crack that has been re-glued; there is a little loss of paint on the body and paper from the roof, and shows overall age and wear, but that is to be expected on a toy that is at least 120 years old. Some of the animals have lost a leg, but if I live to be 120, I may not have all my parts either!
This would be a darling addition to your antique toy collection. Please contact us if you have any questions.
