I would love to see the 1930-40s outfit these two buttons came off of! They are so interesting. Shaped like a flower with up-turned petals, they are black with ecru centers, giving the appearance of the black having been carved away to reveal the cream color underneath. The “stamens” of the flowers are spikey in appearance – I attempted to get photos that show the “spikes” but wasn’t terribly successful. I don’t know if they are Bakelite or more of a celluloid; I’m not good at testing for Bakelite. The buttons measure 1 ¼” in diameter and are in very good used condition; there are scratches on the black undersides, but that is expected from something of this age. They are fascinating!
They are priced as a pair.
This pair of buttons would be a fabulous statement on a cape or jacket or would be great in a button collection. Please contact us if you have any questions.
