In the early 1950s McCoy veered from their well-known form of pottery planters to this highly collectible form with the center figure. This particular piece is a double planter – one on each side of the white bird on the branch. It is a cheery yellow with green wash glaze over it. The planter is 8” wide, 6 ¼” tall, and 2 7/16” deep. It is in very good vintage condition. The glaze on the planter is very shiny and bright; so please overlook the reflections in the photos, some of which are rather large. There are some small chips on the bottom, which don’t show when it is sitting on a surface. There is only minor crazing on one side and some minor loss of glaze or lack of glaze in the manufacturing process, and there are two very tiny white dots on the front. I can’t tell if they are underglaze or on top.
