The Vietri region of the Amalfi coast of Italy has been the site of pottery making since the 15th century; so these rustic hard to find LS Lamas hand-thrown plates are part of a long tradition. Made from fired terra cotta, they are hand decorated with a charming duck pond scene over a tan base with blue dots at the rim. The two red-roofed houses in the background are raised, giving the pieces a slight dimension to the design. On the back of the 8” plates you can see some imperfections from the hand worked clay, but that is part of their appeal. Each is in excellent, hand-crafted condition with no cracks, chips, or crazing. If used for eating, these should not be put in the dishwasher. They are wonderful for wall hangings or sitting on a shelf.
We are listing each plate individually, so that you may buy one or a pair. Since they are hand decorated, they are not exact matches – for instance one plate has five birds in the sky and the other has four.
