Only made between 1945-47, this charming Denby mug depicts a hunting scene with a fox escaping to the trees with the huntsman and hound close on his heels. The brown handle on the 4 1/8” tall mug is fashioned to look like a hound. The tree, fox, horse and rider, and hound are applied in relief around the light green background, and there is beading bordering the top and bottom of the green band. The majolica glaze is still very shiny, and the mug is in excellent condition; it’s hard to believe this is 70+ years old, but then Denby has had over 200 years to perfect their pottery.
This would be a wonderful addition to your Denby collection or to use as a pencil holder in a classic office. Please contact us if you have any questions. We will always consider any reasonable offer for our pieces.
