What a cute pitcher to cheer you up every morning when pouring cream in your coffee or syrup on your pancakes! This 5 ½” tall pitcher was probably made sometime after 1938 when Southern Potteries started hand painting their china pieces. Southern Potteries was established in 1916 but used transfers to decorate their wares until 1938 when the owner decided that the pieces should be hand painted. The factory closed in 1957. The darling bird pitcher is decorated with a yellow beak, brown marks for the wings and feet, and blue eyes. It is covered in multi-colored flowers with green leaves, and the handle is highlighted with more brown swirls. This little cutie looks like he’d sing to you while you work in the kitchen; he's a bit larger than a creamer, so he could have numerous uses. It is marked on the bottom: Blue Ridge China, Hand painted underglaze, Southern Potteries Inc., Made in USA. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing and very, very little wear.
This would make a charming addition to Blue Ridge or kitchenware collection. Please contact us if you have any questions.
