For your country kitchen or primitive dining table, you can’t do better than this hand-carved trencher. It is not perfectly oval, nor is the bottom perfectly flat, since it was chiseled by hand and not turned on a lathe. It doesn’t appear to ever have had any finish, lacquer or paint on it. There are a couple of short cracks in the wood and a knot, but that only adds to the charm and character of the piece. The trencher is substantial, weighing about 2 lbs. 14 oz., measuring 21” long, 15 ¾” wide and 4” deep. It is in as found condition, but that makes it fabulous! In the third photo there appear to be a couple of white spots on the edge of the bowl, that is sunlight that was filtering through a curtain from a window above where we take our photos.
This would be a great addition to your primitive or farm house collection. It would look great with apples, pinecones, gourdes, or balls of yarn displayed in it. Please contact us if you have any questions.
