This rustic portable, tabletop desk was definitely handmade by some family craftsman - the back of the desk is from a wooden crate. The crate reads:
Equal to the Best and Always Better than the Rest
Manchester Biscuit Company
Sioux Falls, S. D.
This piece is very well made; the fold up writing surface snuggly fits into the case and the hinges move smoothly. It has some dings in it, but that is to be expected in a Depression-era piece and only adds to its charm. The desk measures 22 ¼" wide and 15 ¾" high. The depth at the bottom is 16" and it tapers up to a depth of 11 ¾". Inside the desk are three cubbies for storing office supplies or displaying decorative items.
This would make a charming addition to your decor. Please contact us if you have any questions.
