What a wonderful example of folk art! This 10” wide log house is made of small. hand cut branches to make the “logs” that have been hand hewn on the ends to fit together to form the corners. To add to the charm of the cabin, the roof is made of wood from a crate that held Texas grapefruit. The roof has been covered in thin pieces of spline to form the shingles. Over the years, some of the spline has dried and is flaking on the edges of the roof. The shingles and the “logs” are held together with old nails. There is no floor to the cabin; it doesn’t show that it was ever attached to a platform or had flooring. Some of the joints are loose but all the pieces are still intact. The cabin is 8 ¼” deep and 7” tall to the peak of the roof.
