This wonderful 10 ¾” tall rooster is styled a bit differently than many that were made in the 1950s. He’s slimmer and the colors are softer than many of this era. His cocks comb is a soft red and his feathers are gray-green and a warm earthy brown with a white breast. I don’t know what company made him; there is a mark on the bottom, underglaze, which looks like a stylized black V or check-mark and a dot. I couldn’t find anything about the mark. Of course, that could be the mark of the decorator. He has the look of Royal Windsor pottery, which used paper tags; so perhaps his tag was removed years ago. He is beautiful and in very good condition with one small fleabite on the tip of his top tail feather and a small white spot underglaze where there is no color on his brown feathers. There is slight crazing seen on the underside where the mark is, but there are no cracks or breaks.
This would be a great addition to your kitchen, den or rooster collection. Please contact us if you have any questions.
