Mary Rushton from Atlanta founded Rushton Toy Company in 1917. Her daughter, Wight, designed most of the dolls and stuffed animals. The company was owned and operated by the family until 1983. One of Rushton’s most popular lines, Rushton Star Creations, made hand painted rubber dolls and rubber faced animals from the 1950s until the 1960s.
This wonderful 19” long pixie/elf is absolutely charming in his red and green outfit. The red material is a felt like material and the green is a smooth cotton material. His hands and face are rubber. He still has all his fingers. There are some spots on his face and hands that could possibly be cleaned but that will be left to the new owner. His clothes have been repaired at some time and there are condition issues on the back of the arms as seen in the photos. There is no tag but from the research we did he has the same face, hands and clothes of other Rushton pixies we found. Despite these minor condition issues, he is adorable. Who couldn’t love that darling face!
