I believe this darling doll trunk was originally a pine utility box that some loving grandpa converted into a trunk for his granddaughter’s dolls. When closed, it looks like a wooden box that small tools or instruments may have been stored in, but when open, it has been lined in fabric and a drawer added. Two nails have been hammered on the top left to hold doll clothes on hangers from which a cute handmade blue cotton checked dress and white cotton slip are hanging. There is also a cute green plaid cap sitting on top of the drawer. Two ribbons have been attached on the right side to tie a doll into place. A leather handle was attached at the outside top (or side if the box is lying down) of the box to be able to easily carry it; the leather looks like it may have come from a belt. This old trunk, measuring 14” x 7 ½” x 6 ¾”, is in excellent condition and the clothes are pristine.
