According to the maker’s mark on the back, British pottery makers Barker Bros. Ltd. made the turkey tableware specifically for American company Weil Ceramic & Glass, whose sole business is importing upscale goods to sell in the US. Founded in 1876, Barker Bros. was known for medium to upscale dinner and tableware, with many patterns rivaling the style of Spode and Johnson Brothers. After a couple of buy-outs, Barker Bros. closed in 1981, thus making these dishes a true treasure when found. This plate measures 10 7/8” and features a fully-plumed turkey with a charming country scene behind him and rich fall colors of deep yellow, green, purple, brown, and red around the rim. The plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or discoloration; there is crazing on the back side.
This would be a charming addition to your dinner table or to add to your decor. Please contact us if you have any questions.
